I visited 1 of the World Heritage!

Woah... Big title, huh? It's nothing big actually.

Did you know that Gunung Mulu National Park, Kinabalu Park, Melaka and Georgetown are 4 of the 878 properties forming part of the cultural and natural heritage which the World Heritage Comittee considers as having outstanding universal value?

Haha! Malaysians! Stand proud against the world! =P

So anyway, as usual, we were 1 hour behind our schedule. My dad planned to wake up at 6am and get going at 7am. But we woke up at 7am and got going at 7.30am.

When we reached Melaka, it was raining. Quite a good start actually. Melaka is usually HOT! I wonder whether it's because of their geographical position or what? But who cares? I'm in Food Heaven and surrounded by cool antiques and buildings! =)

Actually, we wanted to eat the Chicken Rice Balls at a restaurant but then there was a line outside.. O.o So we ate at the other restaurants, just beside The Orangutan shop if you know where that shop is.

The Orangutan shop is actually an art gallery selling T-shirts with the owner, Charles Cham's art works. He believes in the balance in life and Yin and Yang and was in France some years back. There was a shirt saying, "Play Safe. Use Malaysian Rubber." =_= You know what it means, don't you?

Next, my dad went looking for this shop of another artist. Jehan Chan? According to my dad, he was quite famous even back in the 1990's. His art gallery is quite far from the restaurant that we were eating at and we have to walk there.. @_@ On the way there, we stopped by many many shops and we weren't exactly looking for the gallery, just my dad was the only one looking.

Then we stopped by the cendol shop... =D Yummy! The first time I went there was 2 years ago? I think. With my choir buddies when we finished our concert, we celebrated by going for a trip, FREE! =) But we have to pay for the food and all that. After that, I fell in love with that Cendol there.. I ate 2 bowls yesterday, by the way. RM1.70/bowl. Reasonable, right?

Then we checked in the hotel at about 2pm. Avilion Legacy, Melaka. I have to say that that hotel is really... dirty. The carpets were dirty and stained. They even have a weird, old hotel kind of smell. Yuck! We didn't even want to swim in the pool. Small.. The lobby was dimly lit and looked really like a place that Malays liked. No offence!

We stayed in the hotel till 5.30pm after finish watching Rogue, the croc movie based in Australia. I think it's called Rogue. My cold-blooded sister laughed throughout the movie. =__= She said the croc was too fake and when the croc ate one of the people, she laughed... Swt! Then, we went to the Portugese Village for dinner.

There were still Portugese here, but mixed with the locals. They even still speak Portugese! You would think that they are Malay if they don't speak. But they speak better English. Fascinating History!

Then, we went to Jonker Street which was PACKED, CROWDED with people! Maybe it's because it's Agong's Birthday. But anyway, I saw my cousin brother and a friend there. What a coincidence! I didn't buy anything to eat because I was too full. My sister and I walked around and saw the LeSportsac selling almost in every stall! The first stall when we asked for the price, it was RM45.. O.o That expensive for a fake one?! We walked on and saw those little lamps made from rice paper. My sister wanted to buy one but they designs was limited. So I suggested that we walk on and see if other stalls sell them too. But then we stumbled across a stall which sold more designs of the LeSportsac. I've seen some of my friends using it and I liked the designs. We asked for the price, and guess what, it's RM28! HUGE difference! My sister and I each chose 1 and they sold the bag at RM 50 for 2 bags. I loved the little girl at the stall. Her mum was busy chatting away but she was selling the bags. Cute girl! =) In the end, we decided not to buy the lamp since we don't even know where to put it and our room's already full with this-and-thats.

My dad didn't want to walk with us. Instead, he sat at the Pub. After our stroll, we went back to the pub to meet him and there was a LIVE band there singing. Well, not exactly a band but a singer. So we sat there and enjoyed the music. My mum was singing to each song and was reluctant to leave after that. The traffic jams there made us reach the hotel at 1am when we left Jonker Street at 11pm.

A little history: Jonker Street used to be a street where the merchants and sellers live so the houses, which are now shops, are not that big. But the street where the rich and famous live long ago was way bigger. They use to go around in horse carts so they have stables for their horses.

I have to say that the shops there are just really, really old. They were actually houses where the rice merchants used to live in. There's an air well in the house, so it's pretty cooling. The shops are LOOOONG... Divided into several parts of the house. There's also a well in most of the shops where they used to draw water from. Cool!

There were lots of pubs, Nyonya restaurants, art galleries, cookie and local delicasie shops, batik shops and lots and lots of antique shops. I went in one of the antique shops and took a trip back to the olden days. I saw a gramaphone and some old records. I even saw one record which plays Elvis in Concert. I saw old cameras, telephones, safe boxes, lamps, jewelery, forks, spoons, knives, glass bottles, clocks which are still working, pictures, signs, weapons, toys, magazines. There were also the Wang Pisang which was mentioned in the History text books. I also saw a "medicine cabinet" where old Chinese doctors used to keep their herbs. I'm sure you've seen this in those Chinese movies set in ancient China. And again, COOL!

My mum said my grandpa used to have some of the antiques there but most of it was broken. My grandpa's old house is an old colonial style bungalow wher ethe British used to live before they went back to England. They left behind their furniture and my grandparents used the furniture instead of throwing it away.

The antique shops were dusty and I can hardly catch my breath in there. But it's really cool to think of who used to own all those and it made me want to really go back in time to see how people used to live.

The Nyonya food there was one of the main attractions there. The Chinese came from China when Cheng Ho and Hang Li Po came to Melaka back during the days and brought servants and armies. Most of them got married with the locals and there you have the Baba and the Nyonya. Which was a "mix" of the Malay and the Chinese. They experimented with the food and the spices we have here and came out with mouth watering dishes, a fusion of the Chinese and Malay. There was also the multicoloured kuihs which are oh-so-delicious! The Cendol is also one of the Nyonya delights. Genius inventions~

I ate lots of yummies there, saw lots of foriegners there, saw lots of eye opening antiques there, took lots of pictures of the antiques , too! Even though I think that is not really allowed... ^^' The place was as usual, HOT and old and mind boggling. The mind boggling part was when I imagine myself back in the days when I look at those antiques. COOL STUFF! The crowd this time made me not wanting to go back there soon and the traffic jam back to Klang was just -- ugh!

So I hope the next time I go there, I won't have to squeeze shoulder-by-shoulder with the tourist. And I hope my dad can get a bigger car real SOON so that we won't have to stuff all 6 people in a Mercedes. Why, oh why did he sell his Innova! T_T

Nothing much to say... Have had a typical week after the hols... ~_~

Oh yea! I forgot to state here... I was crazy enough to go swimming with my little brother when we were in Port Dickson at 1pm!! Gosh! We love the water! So we swam till 5 or 6pm... Lol! Mind you, I do swim! Like a fish, too! But not as quick as a fish.. At least I swim!! Haha! Going on, I wanted to be a little more tanned than I am now, so I sunbathed, at 3pm! Serves my craziness right! I got sunburnt! T.T And not even 1 person said that I turned dark...

We stayed at the Avilion Admiral Cove rather than the other Avilion which has a nicer and cleaner beach... The Avilion that I stayed in is kinda like a habour for ships to "park" and my hotel room has a flat screen TV (woah!) and a gorgeous view of the harbour and the sea. My brother and sister said they saw a turtle when they were walking on the deck (where they are not supposed to)! Lucky them! I only saw a turtle once and it was during our trip back from the "snorkelling site" in Redang and I only saw it's head... T.T My sister saw it up close when she went snorkelling, too, in Redang!! I want that chance too!

But, the beach was like a garbage site where rubbish is almost everywhere! Gosh! Why don't people have a little sense in themselves?! I don't really dare to swim in the muddy, murky sea water since I don't have a clue what's under me... But, in Redang, I'll swim like there's no tomorrow!!! Clear water meeting my underwater friends... Hehe!

Unlike the Avilion I stayed in, the other one has Water Chalets on top of the sea and has a petting zoo, 2 beaches, spice gardens... But although this wasn't those fancy holiday trips, I must say that I enjoyed it quite alot. Just having to take a look at the sea, is Discovering Harmony (The motto for the Avilion Admiral Cove). Relaxing~

Sis said she wants help with making Tiramisu for her friend as a birthday present, so I guess I'll be leaving you with this.

Cameron Highlands Trip

I've been to Cameron and back again! Well, the trip wasn't that excited but it was nice anyways. So here's the entry and kinda like a journal to this trip. This trip is actually Ling Wee's dad's company trip and Wee =P was kind enough to invite us to join the trip.

Day 1 (25/10) Saturday
The day before, we slept over at Ling Wei's place since we had to get up quite early to prepare for the trip. We woke up at about 6.30am and had to get out of the house at 7am. Still dazed, I changed into my clothes and went downstairs to prepare. Because I had to stay over at Wee's, I had to pack one day earlier and bring all that to my tuition at night so that Wee's mum can pick me and the other 2 musketeers to her place.

Clumsy me, had forgot to bring my towel and sweatshirt.. =_= how silly is that?! I'm going to a chilly place yet I forgot to bring my sweatshirt! So Wee borrowed me one of hers... Thanks, Wee! I'll froze to death if I go without a sweatshirt!

So, to be together, all four of us, we decided to take the back seat of the car which will have 5 seats. But, no, it only has four... And, a worker had settled in comfortably there. So we had no choice but to choose a seat more up front. I sat with Ah Boon, Chua with Sher and Wee with Kai. Ken sat alone...

Before we start our trip, we stopped by a shop, which I had no idea where that is, to have some breakfast. When I took a first look at the shop, I didn't think of it as a restaurant, and it isn't.. Haha! It's actually kinda like an office where they sell health products. We were just borrowing the place for us to eat our breakfast, which is Chicken rice or Nasi Lemak.. Hehe!

So, after that, we started our journey to Cameron. Before checking in our apartment, we stopped by a market where they sell typical Cameron stuff, like Veges and flowers n fruits, and most importantly, they sell Sweet Potato Balls... 番薯旦 It's just mashed sweet potatoes added with a little flour and maybe sugar and other stuff, and it's rolled into small balls and deep fried till golden brown! Hmmm! It's sold 8 for RM 2, and the deep fried 'tempura' oyster mushrooms were nice too, RM 3.

After that, we went back to the apartment. Before dusk, we 'little children' have a little sense of nostalgic and decided to play a game of 'Pepsi Cola', if you know what it is =_=. At night, we have a telematch session where the workers are able to play mini games. I don't know why but we were 5 girls (Sher, Wee, Chua, Boon and me) were called out for a 'friendly' tug-of-war. Ps: The tug-of-war ropes were borrowed from Kwang Hua! Pride! =P So, before us the, sorry, 'older' ladies were against the other group of ladies, who are workers. Omigosh! It was so vicious! The ladies from our side tugged and pulled until they fall to the ground! We was like, Oh.... We're dead meat... Next up, our turn! We were against the Indonesia ladies? I guess. But, we won the game in less than a minute! And the same goes to the next round with the Vietnamese ladies. Yay! Victory! But, after that, I heard Wee and Sher or Chua said that the other ladies who were watching us was whispering something like, Gemuk Gemuk... =_= It means fat... Chua said that they were referring to us, since we won the match so easily... Huh! We won fair and square!

That night, it was all about UNO and Catan... We played till we felt soooo sleepy and finally went to bed...

Day 2 (26/10) Sunday
We woke up at 6.30am, again... For breakfast, we ate fried rice and fried noodles... Because we ate at the same restaurant for lunch the day before, I saw a poster saying 'Cameron Tea and toast' and I thought that it was for our next breakfast. But it's not... After that, we were off to the Cactus Farm or Park. But I don't see why it's called Cactus Park, because it mostly displays other plants than cactus. For example, roses, daises, tomatoes, water lilies, spider lilies, and no kidding, Apples!

Then, we went to the strawbery farm where you can pick your own straberries. 7 of us decided to stay outside instead of picking straberries. There was a small cafe in the farm selling everything made out of straberries imaginable. Strawberry ice (Yumm!), Strawberry milkshake, strawberry salad, strawberry with ice cream and banana, strawberry with ice cream, strawberry with sago, and strawberry with condensed milk. Sher, Wee and Boon bought strawberry, bananas and ice cream for RM 8, and they went bananas about it! They were savouring each bite while Chua and I was digging into our strawberry ice! Yumm... They were so bananas that they got another bowl of strawberry and ice cream and even decided to buy some strawberries and vanilla ice cream to make it when we get back to out apartment. But, they didn't because we were out of time. As for me nd Chua, after our strawberry ice, we bought a bowl of strawberry and condensed milk for RM 5. Before going back, I bought another strawberry ice! I'm obessed with it!

T.T I don't really wanna continue telling you guys about this trip as it is quite tiring... and I wanna sleep since I have school tomorrow and it's quite tiring typing strawberries over and over again. Bah... All that's just some lame excuse to run away from this post... But here's the summary:

- we've ate 面包鸡 Chicken curry covered with bread. Yumm!
- i've bought 4 boxes of strawberries, 1 jar of passion fruit jam, 2 packets of 鸡仔饼, 1 jar of Masala spices to be added to a cup of tea which I heard, is not bad, haven't try it though, and some other stuff for me to eat, alone... =P
- we' ve went to TRAP (Tmn Rekreasi Air Panas) Hot Spring in Sg Klah. @_@ Dizzy... Yet calming and soothing...
- our tour guide was always imitating a chicken rooster which is utterly annoying and can wake up anyone even when he's in a VERY, very deep sleep, when she wants to wake us up when we reach our destination.
- We bought quite a number of snacks and tidbits in the grocery shop which is beside the restaurant where we eat our meals everyday.
- Sher, Wee, Chua, Boon and even Ah Luz won the lucky draw during mini games on the first day, but not me... T.T
- when playing badminton with Wee, we lost 2 shuttle cocks in 5 minutes! One in a tree and another in the balcony of another resident's room...
- the jacket I was has a hoodie and I was just fooling around, wearing the hoodie and pulling the strings tight to make me all covered up. Wee and the others said that I looked like someone who is isolated and who have 自闭症 =_= I think Wee will post some pictures up soon and it will make the picture clearer.
- We talked abt our primary school days all the way back from our trip in the bus, though Sher didn't know what the heck we were talking about, I had a really good laugh walking down memory lane...
- i didn't eat the instant noodles that they bought on the night of Day 2 because I was already asleep. Even when Chua wake me up, I, unknowingly, said I don't wanna eat... Bah! I missed supper!
- we took turns playing the PSP Sher's little brother borrowed Wee and was almost fighting for it. ps: I played till the last stage of Metal Slug X!

I think that's all!

And! I've finally received Leehom's Laos Commemorative Book which I had ordered a few months ago! All that waiting and I've finally got it! Yippeeeee! =)
